Currently, the overlays features is experimental and can be non-trivial to deal with. This is primarily for those who wish to add elements to the final video to block certain parts of your video (e.g. in-game chat).
- Click the Settings button in the top right corner of the desktop client.
- Click on the Overlays tab on the left-hand side of the settings page.
- Click the Enable button in the top-right of the page.
- Select the game you wish to use as the preview for the overlay from the dropdown menu:
- Start running the game (e.g. if you selected Hearthstone, open up Hearthstone now).
- After the game is running, click the Start Preview button (
).
- Alt-Tab back into the game and wait a few seconds (10-15 seconds) and then alt-tab back into SquadOV. You should now see your game on the overlays page in SquadOV. Click Pause Preview.
- Follow that up by clicking the Edit button (
).
- Click the plus button next to Layers.
- Left click on the new layer that shows up. You can modify which games this layer will appear in on the right. You can change the name of the layer to something that'll help you remember what it is.
- Click on the shape-drawing tool in the toolbox.
- Click and drag in the video player to draw a rectangle where you would like to hide certain things in the video. You can change the color at the bottom of the toolbox.
- Once you're done editing the overlay, click the Save button (

- Click the Stop Preview button.
